SEAK: Graffiti and Street Art Diary

Aus Liebe zum Detail.

Hiermal eine naturalistische Sprüharbeit von mir. Ein Angewandter Auftrag, in der Kölner Innenstadt, neben dem Stadtgarten  für den Hulk Biofood Laden. Realisiert mit Stiften, Spraydosen, und Lackstiften.

Ein gesunder Geist in einem Gesunden Körper. Nach einem wilden, für meine Gesundheit sehr Herrausforderenden Jahr 2008, zumindestens was die Wochenenden anging, war diese Anfrage mehr als pädagogisch wertvoll. Das Rolltor gehört zu Kölns best ausgestattesten Bioladen.

Strategisch schlau von mir die feinheiten bei diesem Auftrag im Frühjahr umzusetzen. Ich wurde noch nie so häufig von alleinerziehenden Muttis umschwärmt wie hier. Ich liebe die Kölner Innenstadt. Geht doch fast nichts über draussen auf der Strasse malen.

Auf diesem Photo gefällt mir ganz gut der Stilmix: Comic realistisch die Möhre, hart und grafisch einfarbig die Kornähre, und wie vom Foto abgemalt die Papirkas.

Photoreal mit wenig Farbtönen, strategisch effizient gut platziert geht auch.

und hier der comicreale Teil, in Mischtechnik. Sprühdose mit Stiften kombiniert.

Als kleines Kompliment an die Hulk Biofood Crew für ein gutes Budget und die angenehme Art der Zusammenarbeit  spontan ein SEAK Satellit integriert.

Alles ein Frage der Balance.

Claus Winkler, *1974 Cologne. His pseudonym „SEAK“ appears along with artist colleagues like Banksy and Osgemeos to be one of the most influential artists in the contemporary graffiti and street art movement.

He uses the letters of his tag name „SEAK“ as a medium of projection for the communication between the meta-communication, pop cultural trends and ultimately as social interaction. With his antenna logotype satellites based on former letters he represents the missing link between modern Graffiti and the recent Neo-Streetart movement.

Invitations to exhibitions and underground events/jams brought him to places all over the globe.
SEAK’s canvases and works on paper were exhibited at the Biennale of Shenzhen, the Kiasma Museum for Modern Art in Helsinki, the Klingspor Museum and the Urbis Museum in Manchester, to name a few.

You can find his typography-based arcade spaceship alter egos on walls in Madrid, San Francisco, Hong Kong, London, Minsk, Australia, Mexico, New Zeeland, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome…..
Since the early 90ies he collaborated, painted and networked with countless like-minded artist and friends.

The spraycan producer Molotow dedicated him his very own color: Seak’s futuregreen. SEAK rocked commission jobs in the last 2 decades- for corporate and privat clients, agencies and sponsors.
Fashion brands like Eastpak, Levi’s, Nike and Upperplayground requested him for successful collaborations.

SEAK lives and works in his hometown Huerth in the outskirts of Cologne. The City of Huerth honored him with the Culture Prize 2005/ 2006 for his artistic dedication.
